My mom is my best friend. I find a reason to call her just about every day. She gets me. She is one of the few people that I can cry my eyes off to. This happens quite unexpectedly and most of the time on the phone. I'll call her with some frustrating situation, (sick kids, health insurance nightmare, overwhelming calling, you name it) and before I know it here come the water works. What is it about moms that you can just let it all out?
My mom is very patient. This came in handy with a daughter that struggled in school. I remember her helping me read almost an entire book in one night for a book report that was due the next day. One night she walked into my room to find me crying as I hopelessly stared at a project that I couldn't fathom finishing in time. She climbed up on the bed and told me that I couldn't eat the whole whale in one bite and that we were going to do it together one bite at a time. We stayed up for what seemed like the entire night getting the project done together.
She came to all of my cross country and track meets. Even the ones out of town. As I raised my eyes to the finish line she was always there cheering with Gatorade in hand. She did this with three of my little brothers in tow.
She is an amazing cook. It was always three square meals at the Robinson house. This is definitely something I took for granted. My friends loved spending the night because everybody knew that there would be sourdough pancakes or biscuits and gravy or scones with honey waiting for us in the morning.
With the arrival of each and every one of my children my mom was there for the dreaded postpartum days that followed. She would, of course, cook me meals. She would also come during the day and take over so I could sleep. O precious sleep. The best gift she could have ever given me. Newborn baths were given. She taught me how to swaddle (a talent passed down from her mother-in-law). I think I would have chosen to be a mother of ONE if it wasn't for her help and guidance.
*Lunch at Blimpie
*Shopping at Ross
*Cleaning my house and taking care of my kids while I was on bed rest
*Trips to Utah
*Movies with me and my little girls
*Free baby sitting
*Trips to the temple
*Showing me how to keep flowers alive
*Teaching me to sew
*Letting me paint my room forest green, and I mean forest green. Even the molding and inside the closet. I'm sure it will take 10 or more coats to cover it up someday. That is, if it is ever attempted.
The list goes on and on.
I love you, Mom. Thanks for first being my mom and now my best friend.

I agree, your mom rocks! :)
Thank you Tammy! It is a blessing to have one great daughter to share all the girly things with (including our emotions)and be surrounded and protected by the forces of the male gender!!! I love being your mom! I don't envy your job as you raise THREE little girls that will, someday soon, be teenagers! But I know that you are up for the task and I will pray for you! Love, Mom
Happy Birthday Debra!
Happy Birthday, Sister Robinson! I love you, too.
Great post Tammy.
What a sweet post. I second it all!!! She may very well be the VERY BEST mother in law around! When my friend complain about their MIL, I can't join, there's not a single thing wronge with mine. We sure do love her!
First of all, I love the pictures! You SO look like her! Second, can I spend the night there? Hmmm....
Tammy, you do have a great mom. I feel lucky that she was apart of my teen age years.
Debra, thanks for being such a good example to me. Thanks for being such a good YW leader. Thanks for being my mom's friend. I have a small list of women that I will always look up to. You are one of them. You are fun and good and beautiful inside and out.
We were just having lunch with your Mom & Dad today. We miss them tons. I love your Mom and the long walks and talks we had. I think you are great and the post.
Kris
