Easter Eggs Chapter 1 (The Uncle Arlen Way)

This year we colored eggs in memory of my Uncle Arlen. The summer of 2007 a bunch of Bauer girls invaded his house for a visit. Some time during our reminiscing he told us of his Easter egg dying technique. I'm not kidding. This his how his family dyed eggs every Easter. No fancy colors for them. Here's how it goes.

1. Find your self some greenery.

2. Wrap the egg up with some strategically placed flowers/leaves.

3. Boil them with a bunch of purple onion skins. I'm not sure how long. Probably till the eggs are cooked. You could also use blown eggs but then you have to find a way to keep them under the water.

4. Unwrap and see what you've got.
Here is our sad little attempt. We call it our sepia collection. They always turn that brown color but unlike ours the flower print is suppose to show. We'll get better at it, give me a couple of years. Here's one my mom did.

We love you, Arlen.
