I forgot how much I love you

This summer my yard was completely barren. No flowers, no greenery, just crispy yellow grass. Every time I went outside to rectify this situation

I GOT HOT!
I told myself that the yard was as it should be. We do live in a desert after all. I became complacent and decided that the addition of color to my front yard was highly overrated. That was until Mother Nature gave me a gift. She knew I needed a little reminder of the joy those vibrant colored flowers gave me. Enter my little friend. He started growing around the time the summer rains came. I ignored him for a while but then he got bigger. I contemplated plucking him from the earth. Remember, I was going for the desert look. Pity was taken and I eventually started to give the little guy some love... and look at him now. A full grown flower. Thank you, mother nature. I can't wait to plant and I promise that this fall my yard will be a virtual cornucopia of color.

So, my excuse for my horrid yard (that looks awful ALL the time) is that it's scorched in the summer and frozen in the winter... Are those excuses allowed??

It is not a weed. I paid for 6 of those little things.. they just get bigger and then the top falls off.. their name has something that reminds me of chickens.. Can't remember what it is tho.

I had some of those, too. But now I can't remember the name either. LOL I think they reseed themselves.
Show us more pictures of your yard...when you get done planting. (It is a lot nicer outside now.) :)
