Ever since November, Avery has completely and utterly refused to let me do her hair. I was surprised by how hard it was for me to let go. You would think with two other kids' hairdos to whip up, (Bauer you don't count because of the obvious lack of hair) that I would look at this with relief. I most definitely didn't go down quietly. I used to fight with her every day but that only resulted in her weeping until I gave in. She would ask as I dropped her off at school, "Does it look like I've been crying?" So I changed tactics. I would only fight the fight on Sundays. That wasn't to much to ask for right? Evidently, it was. The days of my three girls walking into church with matching bows and every hair in its place were numbered. I found myself giving up, until yesterday. I'm not sure what made her break. I said jokingly, as I do every Sunday, "Avery, come in so I can do your hair." Then she appeared. She didn't even complain as I used the spiral curling iron. That wonderful device used to strike fear in her heart. All I can say is thank you, Avery. I know it probably won't happen again. It's not like I can do her hair until she is in the 5th grade or anything.

I love that you have a blog. You crack me up. Keep the stories coming. They're all so good. By the way, Avery looks so cute:)
I dread that day!
She looks sooo cute! I think thats hilarious... she isn't a mini Tammy with her perfect hair all tightly done and pulled.. You always looked SO cute and perfect when we were lil runts!.... ha ha... That would drive me crazy! Italia sometimes does her bangs straight... and i mean STRAIGHT down! It's NOT cute.. she seems to think so... we battle... and she gets so mad when I try to fix it... cause it NEEDS to be fixed! Then she storms off, stomping saying "its NOT cute!!!!" I follow with... "oh I beg to differ my love"
OH... Kids... and their Hair!
Oh my goodness, we are night and day on this one! I can only guess, but I imagine that my conversation with Sophia will sound more like this: "Sophia honey, your fine motor skills are developing quite nicely, do you think you could start doing your own pony tail sometime soon?" Hee hee. I already secretly whisper thank yous to her for being so bald and not requiring me to figure out any hair do skills yet. I really think Davey might do the girls' hair in my family. He can french braid and I can't, mostly because of his survival skills training from Anasazi. I love your blog by the way. Long overdue in my opinion and you are a dang good storyteller on here. I especially love the lunch lady and the recipes too. I'm going to try them, I'll let you know how I do.
Don't I look CUTE!
Tammy,
I just discovered your blog and I love it! You should hop on over to mine, too.
I still have this problem of fighting with the girls about me doing their hair. I loved doing it and making it look beautiful. But they have been insisting on doing it themselves. So we compromised: They each get 2 days a week (will increase as they get older) to do their own hair, and I do the other days. Sometimes I let them do it on more than 2 days. :) BUT Sundays are MY days to get to play with their hair...no ifs, ands, or buts about it. :)
