Beeson Bonfire

Brigham went out a couple of weeks after Christmas and gathered about 20 trees that had been so carelessly discarded on the side of the street. Ours, of course was still snug and warm in our living room. It did eventually make the cut, lights and all. This was our biggest bonfire yet. This was traditionally an Elders Quorum activity held each year on the last Saturday of January. It only lasted as a Church-sponsored activity for 3 years because we tried to out-do the previous year's fire. The Bishop reluctantly axed all future activities involving fire, hot dogs, and childish men.

Trees

and Hot Dogs. What else do you need?

Here's the pretties tree in the bunch. The lights gave off a cool blue glow as they burned. I think I will leave them on every year for dramatic effect.

Hey! I feel that someone must stand in defense of the bishop! He didn't axe all future events involving fire, hot dogs and childish men, he just asked for a little restraint. With visions of bigger and grander fires involving more propane tanks, etc., he realized the event had the potential to become a public relations disaster for the Church. The bishop has to maintain control! Darin, however, loves good propane tank explosions, burning magnesium rods, and the like. If you invited him, I'll be he would join in the fun.
